Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Social Business (IJSB) welcomes original, high-quality scholarly contributions in social business, social entrepreneurship, sustainability, innovation, responsible business, social impact, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Authors should review the Aims & Scope, Publication Ethics, Peer Review Policy, and APC / Fees information before submitting a manuscript.

Types of Manuscripts

Manuscript Length

Research manuscripts should normally be approximately 4,000–5,000 words, including references.

Longer or shorter manuscripts may be considered where justified by the nature of the research and subject to editorial approval.

Language

Manuscripts must be submitted in English.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are written clearly and professionally. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscript carefully reviewed before submission.

Language quality alone will not determine the scholarly merit of a manuscript, but manuscripts must be sufficiently clear to permit proper editorial and peer-review assessment.

Manuscript Structure

Depending on the nature of the paper, manuscripts should normally contain:

Title

A clear and concise title representing the main subject of the manuscript.

Abstract

Approximately 150–300 words, summarizing the purpose, methodology, major findings, contribution, and implications of the study.

Keywords

Provide 4–6 keywords that accurately represent the manuscript.

Main Text

Research articles will normally include appropriate sections such as:

Introduction
Literature Review / Theoretical Background
Methodology
Results / Findings
Discussion
Implications
Limitations and Future Research
Conclusion
References

Authors may use a different structure when appropriate for conceptual articles, reviews, case studies, or other types of contributions.

Referencing Style

IJSB currently uses the APA referencing style.

Authors should ensure that:

All sources cited in the text appear in the reference list.

All references included in the reference list are cited in the manuscript.

DOIs should be included where available.

References should be accurate and verifiable.

Authors are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references before submission.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be:

Clearly numbered;

Provided with descriptive titles or captions;

Referenced within the manuscript text;

Placed as close as reasonably possible to the relevant discussion; and

Of sufficient quality for publication.

Authors must obtain appropriate permission to reproduce copyrighted tables, figures, images, or other materials where required.

Anonymous Manuscript

IJSB uses double-blind peer review. The manuscript uploaded for review must therefore not contain information that directly identifies the authors.

Authors should remove:

Names;

Affiliations;

Email addresses;

Acknowledgements identifying authors;

Self-identifying statements; and

Other information that could unnecessarily reveal authorship.

Separate Title Page

Authors should upload a separate title page containing:

Manuscript title;

Full names of all authors;

Institutional affiliations;

Country;

Email addresses;

Identification of the corresponding author;

ORCID iDs, where available;

Funding information, where applicable; and

Relevant acknowledgements.

Originality

Submissions must constitute original work.

A manuscript must not:

Have been previously published in substantially the same form;

Be simultaneously submitted to another journal; or

Contain plagiarized, fabricated, falsified, or improperly attributed material.

IJSB may use plagiarism/similarity-detection tools during editorial assessment. Your strategic plan specifically anticipates plagiarism checking and a dedicated research-integrity function.

Authorship

All listed authors must have made meaningful contributions to the work and must approve the submitted manuscript.

Individuals who have not made an appropriate scholarly contribution should not be listed as authors.

Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria may be acknowledged where appropriate.

Generative AI and AI-Assisted Tools

Generative AI systems and AI-assisted tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, references, data, analysis, and conclusions of their submitted work.

Where generative AI or AI-assisted tools have been used materially in manuscript preparation, authors should disclose their use appropriately.

AI-generated or AI-assisted material must be checked carefully by the authors. Fabricated citations, inaccurate information, manipulated data, or misleading AI-generated content may result in rejection or other editorial action.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, animals, or other areas requiring ethical oversight must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international requirements.

Where ethical approval was required, authors should provide relevant information in the manuscript.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationship that could reasonably be perceived as influencing their research.

If there is no conflict of interest, authors may state:

The authors declare no conflict of interest.

Funding

Authors should disclose relevant sources of financial support or research funding.

Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted through the IJSB online submission form.
